These men were supposed to find something to keep their wives busy while they left on convention. The women went shopping, for car rides, and had lunch together. It was a social club. However, nine years later, the ladies took over and turned it into much more than that.
It became a platform for activism. The women of the group set out to make permanent changes in the plumbing industry, and they did too. It is now one of the oldest women's organizations in the country. Many of them gained business experience so they could be more helpful to the industry behind the scenes, financially and politically.
One of the most famous campaigns they are known for is their partnership with Texaco in 1938. This campaign improved washroom facilities and overall sanitation at gas stations.

Lillian Ann Baumbach is a name the plumbing industry will remember forever. She was the first woman to receive a Master Plumber’s license and showed the world just what women could do in plumbing.
